University of Defense at the Fair of Education in Novi Sad

Members of the University of Defense introduced themselves at the 14th International Fair of Education “Guidelines”, taking place 7-9 March at the Novi Sad Fair. The objective of the “Guidelines” is to promote education for all ages and affirm lifelong learning.

The participation at this year’s Fair is a special opportunity for all those interested to learn more about the military educational system, the conditions of the competition, the manner of application, life and work during education and other information while the competition for enrollment in military schools is open.
A lecturer at the Department of Military Mechanical Engineering at the Military Academy, Colonel Aleksandar Bukvić PhD, highlighted the advantages of military schools and, among other things, recalled the security provided by military schools.

- When you finish a military school you have a secured job. This is very important today and probably one of the reasons why young people are taking up the military vocation. Also, love for the homeland, military profession and the uniform prevail, and excellent education, teaching staff and dual education, viz. the application of theoretical knowledge in practice, lead the young to direct their life path and decide to build a career in the defense system - said Colonel Bukvić.

The number of visitors of the University of Defense stand and the interest in the military profession was comparably large, as shown by the number of young people who spoke with the pupils of the Military High School and the Military Vocational School and with the cadets of the Military Academy.

A high school student from Novi Sad, Ivana Janković, said that she started thinking about enrolling at the Military Academy last year when her friend became a cadet of that military educational institution.

- Listening to my friend telling me about the military profession before enrolling at the Military Academy, and what his experience was after a year, I’m increasingly sure that I will enter the competition. Frankly, I was most interested in how the girls are coping at the Academy, but according to what I learned from him there are no problems, they are all equal and the same rules apply for everyone. He told me that the only thing I needed to do was to prepare well for the entrance exam, said the young girl from Novi Sad.
Her school friend Aleksa Ilić also wants enroll at the Military Academy this year, but primarily because of his love for the country and for the uniform.

- I always loved the armed forces and the uniform. My grandfather was a military officer, and all his stories about this contributed to my choosing this life path. In addition, I know that after the Academy, I will be guaranteed a job and that I will be able to continue my education and training in the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksa said, adding that he also came to the Fair because of his younger brother who is interested in enrolling at the Military High School.

- For the same reasons both of us wish to choose the military vocation, and it will certainly be easier for us both to live and study in the same city. Of course, if we manage to enroll these schools - Ilić said.

The competition for admission of students to the Military High School is open until 15 March, and the competition for the Military Vocational School, Military Academy and Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy until 31 March 2019.
