International Women's Day marked by the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces




On the occasion of 8 March - International Women's Day, celebrations were organized throughout the organizational units of the Ministry of Defense, commands and units of the Serbian Armed Forces.

At the reception at the Command of the Land Forces in Niš, the Commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović congratulated the ladies on the occasion of their day.
With red roses and celebration, Women's Day was officially marked at the Training Command, where the brigadier General Jelesija Radivojević, the Deputy Commander of the Training Command, welcomed all the present.

It was also festive at the Air Force and Air Defense Command. On 8 March, the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, Major-General Duško Žarković congratulated his female staff.
At the ceremony organized at the Military Academy, the cadets handed gifts to their female colleagues and future officers.

International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March in memory of the struggle for economic, political and social equality between women and men. The first National Women's Day was celebrated on 28 February 1909 in the United States after the declaration of the Socialist Party of America.

As International Women's Day, 8 March was officially adopted in 1917, while the United Nations declared 1975 the International Year of Women and started to officially mark 8 March as Women's Day.
