Minister Vulin: Serbia has all Serbs in mind, wherever they may live

”Wherever you may live, rest assured that the state of Serbia thinks and cares for you. Wherever you may live, rest assured that Serbia is there, that Serbia knows that you exist and that she wishes to be a part of your life,” said the envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, in his address at the Ceremonial Saint Sava Academy. The Academy was held tonight in Skopje, organized by the Serbian Cultural Center, under the auspices of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Congratulating St. Sava’s Day on behalf of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Minister Vulin reminded us of the greatest lesson that Saint Sava gave us – “Have Your Brother as Brother” – at least on this day let us make peace with one another. “The greatest teaching, be together wherever and however you may live, wherever you live, join together, be with one another; for Serbs, nobody will ever be able to love you as much and appreciate you as much as those who speak your language, who share your history, who call themselves Serbs,” the Minister said.

”Everything that we have been creating and have created, whenever in the most trying of  times, when dealing with those mightier and stronger than ourselves, we created, won and succeeded when we were true Serbs, when we turned to one another, when we believed one another and in one another. Perhaps it is the greatest teaching that the Venerable Saint has bestowed on us. Sometimes to rejoice and take pride, sometimes in shame, when we are not worthy of this great and glorious teachings,” said the Minister of Defense.

He communicated that wherever the Serbs may live, they love the country they were born in, and the nations they live with can and should respect them, love them and learn from them. Just as the Serbs, wherever they may live with whichever nations they live with, love, value, and learn from those nations. “And the way that you treat Serbs, is also the way that you treat Serbia. As much as you love the Serbs you live with, so much you love Serbia you live next to,” said Minister Vulin.

Addressing the gathered representatives of the Serbian community, Minister Vulin said that he knows how concerned they are every time a harsh or a bad word is uttered about Serbia. “I know how concerned you are when you listen to those going around and making Balkan pacts and alliances against Serbia. I know how concerned you are when you hear the raving, horrible, monstrous plans for creating the “Great Albania” and some other countries that would render the whole of Balkans insecure and miserable. I know how concerned you are and thank you for that concern. I want you to know that Serbia is safe and stable, that Serbia is strong and self-reliant, and that Serbia is a guarantor of peace and stability for everyone living in the Balkans. We know what war is and therefore we jealously, persistently and stubbornly seek peace”.

He asked them to love and protect their Macedonia, just as they love and protect their Serbia. Congratulating St. Sava’s Day, Minister Vulin wished one and all happiness and good health, but prior to all, never to forget the greatest teaching of the Venerable Saint – “No one will ever love you as much as those with whom you share the same name, language and faith.”

Congratulating the Saint’s Day, Macedonian Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev, who, together with the Serbian President Vučić, sponsored the Saint Sava Academy, concluded that the actions of St. Sava inspire.

“Great love, which Saint Sava emanated as mighty light, was felt by all the peoples he visited during his travels and missions. Saint Sava left a mighty reverence, so today a large number of Orthodox churches celebrate his name. The undying heritage of the priest and saint Sava is the milestone on which tradition, culture and values of the people to whom he belongs rest upon, of the people who rightly embrace him and celebrate him as their spiritual parent. His name and glory are eternal,” said Prime Minister Zaev. He went on to say that the determination of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia “is to build and foster a society that is equal for all, the society of diverse citizens we develop and in which we establish mutual respect among all the ethnic communities of our country, while recognizing ethnic, national, religious and cultural differences. This goal is a peculiarity and essence of our community. In our community, built through centuries, the Serbian element has made a significant contribution by living up to the spirit of Saint Sava,” Zaev concluded.
