International Conference on the Protection of Critical Defence Industry Infrastructure
The first international expert conference in the field of protection of critical defence industry infrastructure took place today in Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. The organisers of the gathering are the National risk management association and Faculty of Engineering Management with the patronage of the Ministry of Defence. The conference was held with the support of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Representatives of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Switzerland and Slovenia participated in the work of the conference.
The participants were greeted by Prof Hatidža Beriša from National risk management association and she pointed out that the aim of the gathering was the exchange of experience in identification and analysis of the influence of existing and potential risk to defence industry, analysing the trends in development of systems for protection of critical defence industry infrastructure in the field of physical and technical protection, protection against fire and natural disasters, safety at work, environmental protection, industrial safety and implementation of other measures of protection against different risks.Addressing the present on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, Major General Prof Mladen Vuruna, Head of Department for Defence Technologies, MRS, MoD, expressed the satisfaction with the fact that the topic of that expert gathering was Serbian defence industry, since it had in the previous years displayed great vitality and that at the present it was one of the pillars upon which our country relies.
- Stability and integrity of a states are closely connected by the state and development possibilities and potentials of defence industry. Its accelerated development and integration in the flows of national and international economies, through mastering new technologies, is recognised as an important element of national security policy of the Republic of Serbia. The harmonisation with the highest world standards and establishment of preventive and control mechanisms in the sphere of critical infrastructure protection, make the bedrock preconditions for the preservation of defence, security and foreign policy interests of our country, its credibility and integrity. In the context of global threats, the critical infrastructure protection represents a priority issue of national defence of each state, and ours as well - General Vuruna highlighted, noting that it was necessary to produce a comprehensive analysis of the critical infrastructure state in defence industry sector and define its perspective on the basis of modern solutions and concepts of developed countries.The conference was conducted in three panels, with the participation of experts from the country and the region in the field of defence industry critical infrastructure protection, and representatives of state institutions and Serbian defence industry companies.
