Minister Vulin and General Mojsilović at Pasuljanske Livade and Pešter at Preparations for the Exercise “Century of the Victors 1918-2018”
Members of the Army and Air Force and Air Defence, who are preparing for the incoming exercise the “Century of the Victors 1918-2018” at training grounds “Pasuljanske livade” and on Pešter, were visited today by the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, who were assured of the readiness of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces for the forthcoming exercise.
Following the tour, Minister Vulin pointed out that more than 3,600 soldiers practised that day at “Pasuljanske livade” and training ground in Pešter using a great number of materiel and aircraft.
- In this way we have confirmed our readiness for final execution of the exercise and the fact that we can move on to a higher strategic level - Minister Vulin evaluated.Today, on the training ground “Pasuljanske livade”, in the framework of the preparations, members of the Third Brigade together with the AF and AD carried out a segment of the exercise titled “Battle Group in attack”. The exercise commander, the Third Brigade Commander Colonel Slađan Stamenković pointed out that today’s demonstration was an opportunity to observe the joint action of the aviation, technical and armoured units, and other units participating in the exercise.
- Today, the members of the Third Brigade, Mixed Artillery Brigade, and 98th and 204th Air Force Brigade, demonstrated the competence in handling the-state-of-the-art weapons and other means in use in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces - Colonel Stamenković stressed.
On Pešter plateau, the members of the Second Brigade and AF and AD showed segments of the exercise activities covering the topic “Battle group on the move transitioning into assault”. Commander of the Second Army Brigade, Brigadier General Željko Kuzmanović pointed out that on that day, the troops demonstrated the preparations for the execution of the incoming exercise in the area of a temporary training ground “Pešter”.
- During the preparations for the incoming exercise, the units of the Second Army Brigade supported by a portion of the AF and AD units, and by artillery assets of the Second Brigade, and the assets that are soon to be fielded in the Serbian Armed Forces, engaged an imagined enemy in that area. In the course of the day, you could see the actions of fighter aviation, fighter-bomber aviation, artillery assets and tanks M--84 - General Željko Kuzmanović stressed.Today’s visit was also attended by Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, Deputy Chief of General Staff General Petar Cvetković, Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, AF and AD Commander Major General Duško Žarković and Chief of Department for Intelligence and Reconnaissance Major General Ilija Todorov.
The exercise the “Century of the Victors 1918-2018” is going to be conducted in real conditions and the Serbian Armed Forces will over two exercise days present the level of their training of their operational capabilities with the participation of some 8,000 members on more than 600 combat systems and 24 aircraft. During the exercise, as it has been planned, 103 tons of ordnance is going to be expended.
This is the largest military exercise in last several years organised by the Serbian Armed Forces on 10 locations all over Serbia, as memory of the glory and honour of Serbian heroes who waged great battles and decided the outcome of the First World War by the victorious march from Thessaloniki front to Freedom for the entire Serbia.
