Serbia-Russia Commemorative Ceremony




 
The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Brigadier General Dejan Janković, Chief of Staff of the Training Command, attended today the state ceremony within the Memorial Complex "Čačalica" near Pozarevac, dedicated to paying tribute to fighters and civilians who suffered in the Second World War. The commemorative gathering was held with state and military honours.
 
Nenad Nerić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs led today's ceremony.
The commemorative gathering began with wreath laying and paying tribute at the memorial ossuary of the killed Red Army members. Afterwards, Serbian and foreign officials paid tribute to the victims at the Memorial ossuary of the patriots killed in the Second World War.
 
Representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the mayor and representatives of the City of Požarevac, diplomatic representatives of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, as well as associations and citizens committed to cultivating the traditions of the liberation wars of Serbia, laid wreaths at both memorial ossuaries.
 
The organizer of the commemorative ceremony is the Government's Committee for preserving the traditions of the Serbian liberation wars.
