Development of military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation is of strategic importance




 
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has met today with the First Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC of Russia) Andrey Boytsov, after the conclusion of the third session of the Serbia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation, that commenced on 20th June this year. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Chepurin.
 
Minister Vulin emphasized that he was honoured that he visited the Russian Federation several times this year where he met with Defence Minister Shoigu and other senior Russian officials and that he was pleased because of strengthening of the defence cooperation between the two countries.
 
- The strategic goal of defence cooperation with the Russian Federation is further development of military-economic and military-technical cooperation. I am confident that the continuation of the session of the Serbia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation will further contribute to the strengthening of the overall relations between our countries, Minister Vulin said, noting that the Republic of Serbia was  not considering the possibility of imposing any kinds of sanctions against the brotherly Russian Federation and added that Serbia appreciates the fact that Russia understands our desire to have good relations with both East and West.
 
Andrey Boytsov, Chairman of the Russian part of the Intergovernmental Commission stressed the commission's statement that, in addition to current joint projects, in the coming period, both sides will provide full support to continuing the existing positive trend and expanding the scope of cooperation.
 
The third session of the Serbia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation was held in the Ministry of Defence's Material Resources Sector, in the period from 20th to 21st June 2018.
 
Apart from the members of the commission, the representatives of the organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, PU Yugoimport-SDPR and companies from the Russian Federation that are directly involved in the realisation of the agreed activities, were also present.
 
During the session, the previous activities were analysed and further steps were agreed upon in accordance with the Military Technical Cooperation Plan regarding the procurement, repair and modernisation of weapons and military equipment for the needs of the Serbian side, as well as the mutual expansion of the supply of defence products.
