Minister Vulin: Peace is of Vital Significance for Us

“One of the most significant tasks of the Republic of Serbia is the survival of Serbian people outside of its borders. It is precisely why, as long as Serbia is led by Aleksandar Vučić, the Republic of Srpska and its citizens should know that they will always be protected, safeguarded, supported, and that the obligations that the Republic of Serbia has in terms of the Dayton Treaty will always be consistently honoured” said Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin who led a delegation of the Ministry of Defence at the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Srpska and the Day of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (the Republic of Srpska) in Banjaluka.

“The highest purpose of peace, which is of vital significance for us, and which is necessary and needed, is the survival of Serbs in the Republic of Srpska and Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Peace is necessary for us, we rejoice at it, we hope for it, we work for it, certain that it is the only way to preserve both the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, certain that Bosnia and Herzegovina will exist solely as an agreement founded upon the Dayton Treaty, as a sincere agreement and functioning of three peoples and two entities. That is how the Republic of Serbia perceives this region and the Republic of Serbia is ready to do all in order to permanently maintain peace here, since there are a few nations that know just as well as Serbian people knows the worth of peace and the cost of war” Minister Vulin stressed congratulating the holiday to all the members of the 3rd Regiment (RS) and all the members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Srpska hoping that the peace would last and that the memories of the glorious and honourable struggle would last forever.

According to Minister Vulin, during the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was not asked or caused by the Serbian people, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Srpska managed to ensure the survival of Serbian people, to prevent a genocide and banishment that were conducted over that people even from the First, and in the Second World War as well, so that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Srpska fulfilled its historical mission, preserving the very existence of Serbian people in this region. Today, it is upon the citizens of the Republic of Srpska and the leadership of the Republic of Srpska to ensure the survival of Serbian people.

Congratulating the holiday, President Dodik reminded of the significance of that date for the Republic of Srpska within the historical circumstances of that time.

- If it had not been for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Srpska, the suffering of our people would have been far worse and it would have reminded of the suffering of our people in the Second World War. The reason why the Serbian people fought here for freedom creating its own state and armed forces is precisely this historical memory of the massive suffering of the last century. That is why today the Serbs and modern generations have to know that freedom depends on whether I have enough respect to defend our freedom which is primarily reflected in the state, and the Republic of Srpska is a state in all its features – President Dodik emphasised adding that the 3rd Infantry Regiment (RS) is an important factor and representative of the Serbian people in the armed forces.

Minister Vulin met the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in the Palace of the Republic. President Dodik was interested in the project initiated by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić regarding the construction of economical flats for the members of security structures and announced that he would apply that model in the Republic of Srpska. Minister Vulin and President Dodic announced the enhancement of cooperation of defence industries of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia.
