Training Advancement One of the Priorities

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of General Staff General Ljubiša Diković, accompanied by Commander of the Training Command Lieutenant General Đokica Petrović, attended today the training conducted by attenders of the NCO Training and Advancement Centre at the training ground “Peskovi” in the framework of the Basic NCO course.

On that occasion, Minister Vulin pointed out that starting from 1st January until that day, new 277 professional soldiers had been admitted to the Serbian Armed Forces, and that it was expected that by the end of the year, 112 NCOs would have joined the combat strength.

- Our armed forces are intensively trained, and our armed forces are increasing their combat strength, both in numbers and in quality of those who are with us, in their training and readiness to execute every task. In the period to come, we will continue improving the quality of training, of not only active servicemen, but we will endeavour to also include the reserve as much as possible in order to prepare the reserve as well for contemporary challenges and for everything with which every armed force is faced – concluded the minister of defence.

Commander of the NCO Training and Advancement Centre, Major Saša Pauč underlined that on that day a practical exercise was presented titled “A platoon in assault, squad in defence”.

- The attenders of the 12th class of Basic NCO Course played the roles of soldiers and commanders of groups, teams and squads. The very concept of the programme is intended for training of candidates for lower NCO ranks, or squad, team and group commanders – Major Pauč stressed emphasising that the tactical exercise of that day was a preparation for an exercise which was going to be held together with the Command and Staff Course which was designed in a way that the attenders of the Basic NCO Course would execute a task assigned to them through operational procedure of the Command and Staff Course.

The Basic NCO Course lasts between 15 and 17 weeks and consists of training, specialised training and internship in the Serbian Armed Forces’ units. After the completion of the Basic NCO Course, the candidates are promoted to the rank of sergeant and posted to assigned positions in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Currently, the attenders of the Basic NCO Course are conducting training at the training ground “Peskovi” that will allow the future youngest commanders to play a part in scenarios and situation in real time and space that they could encounter in peacetime and wartime circumstances in the course of their duties.
