Russia Appreciates Serbian Policy

New Donations for the Serbian Armed Forces

On the invitation by Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin stays in an official visit to the Russian Federation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Red Army and Defender of the Fatherland Day.

Speaking about the meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Defence and Russian Federation, Minister Vulin said that the historical bonds between Serbian and Russian peoples were deep and that Serbian and Russian people had always been on the same side of the world – where freedom was, just like they were on that day as well.

- However, the history is not the only thing that connects us. The policy of military neutrality of the Republic of Serbia is highly appreciated in the Russian Federation and the policy of our President and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić is met by great respect by all the bodies of the Russian Federation, starting from President Vladimir Putin to Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu – Vulin stressed.

One of the topics at discussions was the continuation of the military technical cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

- I am rather pleased to say that the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has granted us a great donation amounting to two million euros that is going to be used for the education of our pilots, future “MiGs 29” pilots. This is another way to continue improving combat readiness of our armed forces concurrently enhancing and improving the relations between Serbia and the Russian Federation.

Serbia is a military neutral country, a country that will not become the member of NATO or CSTO, but it is a country that follows its own path, a country that pays attention to its own interests and which pays attention to its friendships – Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin concluded.

In the framework of observing the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Red Army and Defender of the Fatherland Day, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence headed by Minister Vulin, attended the wreath laying ceremony at the Monument to Unknown Hero in Moscow. Then Minister Vulin reiterated that Serbian and Russian people had always been on the same side of the world where freedom was and that history was not the only thing that connected us.
