Unannounced Visit from the Minister of Defence to the Training Ground “Peskovi”

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin was in an unannounced visit today to the stationary camp of the members of the 11th generation during the 2nd module of the basic course for non-commissioned officers and of soldiers serving military service in “June 2017” generation at the training ground “Peskovi”. The minister, accompanied by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Živković, attended the final examination of the 11th generation in the tactics of training of Army branches and services – infantry, artillery, armoured and mechanised units, engineer, CBR, logistics and signal. Later during the visit, Lieutenant Colonel Milomir Rajić, Deputy Commander of the Army Training Centre in Požarevac, who had organised that stationary camping, joined the minister.

-Today, we are in an unannounced visit in order to see how our units are trained, whether they do everything in accordance with the regulations, to inspect the quality of training – Minister Vulin said and pointed out that the training came first in our Armed Forces.

- Other militaries may be better equipped than us, but they cannot be better trained and we cannot in any way send these boys to execute tasks without them having undergone the best and most modern training. The hard work and effort put by the superiors is truly commendable and it certainly yields good results. Whenever our soldiers participate in exercises with the most powerful and the strongest armed forces of the world, they are always praised for their training, their competence and, of course, enthusiasm which they show during their everyday tasks. As the Ministry, we will continue insisting on the process of training, and we will continue insisting that the training must be the one thing that defines our soldier and differentiates our soldier from the others; but certainly insisting on the safety of our soldier and on doing everything in line with the highest possible standards.

The minister of defence said that our units were being equipped with ever better and ever more modern weapons but that, as he highlighted, it was never enough unless you had a trained and ready soldier.

- And we do have them and they are the pride of our country – Minister Vulin emphasised.
